Millions of Americans in Georgia are ready to receive new direct payments of $350 in weeks.
About $1.2 billion was sent to the state by the White House during the pandemic and the cash is being used for the relief program.
Governor Brian Kemp revealed on August 15 that checks would be given to Georgians who would benefit from Medicaid
subsidized child health insurance, food stamps or cash welfare assistance.spokeswoman for the governor's office, said payments would be credited automatically starting in September.
Those who may be eligible are being urged to update their personal details before the cash rollout.
Georgians who can claim multiple benefits will only get paid $350, but a check will be issued to everyone in the household, meaning a mother with two children could get $1,050.
More than two million Americans in the state received Medicaid, or the child health insurance program, in April.
This aid will help some of Georgia's most vulnerable citizens cope with 40 years of high inflation caused by the continuing negative economic impact of the COVID-19
public health emergency and the disastrous policies implemented by the Biden administration."
But some critics of Governor Kemp are accusing the politician of launching an "election-year vote-buying scheme."
Officials estimate that around 50,000 checks will be printed each day and 1.7million payments will be sent out in total.
Residents that were ineligible for the first payment may get the $200 payment if the Social Security benefits they received weren’t claimed by another dependent.
