Canada ranks 12th on the Global Peace Index. It is a politically stable country with very little violent crime, internal conflict or conflict-related deaths.
It brushes against the Arctic Circle, and yes, the alphabet gets a little weird if you've lived outside the state your whole life, but there's a lot to love about the island nation.
The world's number 2 safest country behind Iceland is also an island nation with no home continent and one of only four non-European countries to make the list.
The island can now boast the title of the No. 3 safest and most secure country in the world.
Denmark joined the EU the same year as Ireland, and nearly a half-century later, it is one of the statistically safest countries in the world.
According to the U.S. Department of State, "Austria is a free and stable democracy with a social market economy
Portugal is the No. 6 safest country in the world. If you classify Switzerland among the Central bloc and separate the Nordic countries
Slovenia and the Czech Republic rank higher than Singapore, but if you're looking to retire somewhere safe in the East
The only other Asian nation to make the top 15 and the last on the list outside of Europe is Japan,
Rounding out the list is Switzerland, which takes the No. 11 spot on the Global Peace Index.

Temple’s monthly rent falls at $971.40 and grocery costs for this city average $401.95 per month.
